I'm kinda neutral there - I support quality. This has made people more intolerant of non-official sources - for better or worse. There's also a lot more news flowing these days, to the point that pretty much one month after seeing a new prototype at CES people were calling it a "dry spell". I think the increase in downvotes you're seeing are simply the result of being lumped in with the rest by people unfamiliar with your early contributions to the scene. I mean, I know I'm annoyed when I click a link and it's basically a 1 paragraph repost of an annoucement or a "teaser" with no content at all. Now, there's a lot of people doing it - and other self-promotion - and the quality is dropping rapidly. Back then, a Let's Play was valued content. I started on this sub last April, when my sole reason for coming here was to find hands-on impressions from Kickstarter backers. Keep up the good work all you Rift youtubers - You advertise on youtube however the hell you need to keep your content coming. You will always have some douchers making a lame complaint about a product. Keep the new business coming in, as long as your content remains top notch and you do not exploit your viewers - You are good on 99.99% of us.

Think of it this way - Dude who made this thumbnail was inside your 'market space' to realize that these silly pics are a common feature of the sale - that means - you got plenty of hits out of him already, if this truly inferred a complaint against your product and that he will no longer be visiting. Your videos and your advertising method are absolutely acceptable. This, what youre experiencing, is just the societal 'poke fun' at something for no reason other than - they have nothing else to do with their time. Ive watched a ton of your Rift vids and you do a good job at it and the pics are a marketing thing to keep your audience growing - No shame in that shit at all. Which is fine, of course, he wouldn't be doing as well as he is if people out there didn't enjoy watching him. Most people, however, don't find that all that entertaining, and prefer watching, say, PewDiePie act random for ten minutes because they think he's funny.

The difference for me between an enjoyable Let's Play and an annoying Let's Play is if the guy playing actually talks about things (and even then, it all comes down to if you enjoy listening to what the have to say) and doesn't just scream or crack jokes for a ten minute video and never touch the game again. They're basically podcasts except more candid, longer, and framed around playing a game.
They'll talk about the game, other games, their thoughts on the game or other topics. If you were watching an LP of Half Life 2, usually they don't just stay quiet for an hour or two until they get to a major plot point and then react to it. True, but even then, they'd have to talk near constantly or it'd be boring.
